ARCH 653 - Project 2

Project 2 utilizes the Dynamo plug-in for Revit. It involved creating a Dynamo script which allowed the facade panels to open and close based a parameter set to a point. This point can move along the facade and control what areas of the facade are opened and closed. It began by creating an octagonal pattern in the Pattern Family Template file.  Shown below is the full Dynamo script.  Below you can see the progression of how the facade opens and close as the controlling parameter point moves along the curves. The facade panels are set up to open as the point passes them.  Project 2 also incorporated the plug-in Veras which uses artificial intelligence to generate different facade/finish designs based on a prompt put in by the user. Below are some of the A.I generated facades created using the Veras plug-in.  Below is the full video presentation of Project 2.

Project 1: Parametric Building Modeling - Case Study A parametric office building   A parametric "wave" façade on the exterior walls I began by modeling a conceptual mass of an office building surrounding a courtyard. The building was modeled in several different pieces which were then parametrically constrained together to move as one.   Various parameters were added so that multiple building aspects could be changed such as the width of the courtyard, the length of the courtyard, the width of the actual building and the height. Here you can see them demonstrated… Diagram showing parameter directions Conceptual Mass with parameters Showing changed parameters for width Individual parts of the building can be changed 2 parametric facades were created for the building using the surface pattern family template.  The first was a “wave” pattern created using a curved line. Points were added to the line and then the work plane was set to those points to add ellipses which were used
